The country offers universal healthcare through a public system, complemented by private healthcare options. Approximately 85% of Botswana's population lives within a five-kilometer radius of a healthcare facility, ensuring widespread accessibility. The healthcare infrastructure includes 104 clinics with beds, 195 clinics without beds, 338 health posts, and 844 mobile stops. For general check-ups, citizens are charged 5 pula, with exemptions for those under five or over 65, who receive free services.

For emergency services in Botswana, dial 999 for the Police, 998 for Fire, and 992 for Ambulance (MRI).


Always carry your prescription medication in original packaging, along with your doctor’s prescription. Check with the Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority to ensure the medication is legal in Botswana.
